We don’t usually have a reason to visit Jersey and unless you live there, who actually does? (Mitsuwa isn’t that worth it.) Public transportation is a pain and driving crosstown just to get to the tunnels is a trip in itself. However, this was gladly an exception.
Warren County Farmers’ Fair, Warren, NJ
Luckily, the weather and sky was simply gorgeous the entire day so the drive there was quite scenic. It took about an hour and a half from Brooklyn.
The fair itself was held right outside of a cute little town in Warren County. You know, the kind of town where neighbors probably greet each other while fetching the morning paper. The kind where city dwellers probably drive by and acknowledge that they’d theoretically love to live there, but actually won’t (aka me).
There was a $7 entrance fee but the fair turned out to be pretty worth it. I personally haven’t been to a legit county fair like this before. There were mouthwatering BBQ vendors, a dunk tank, farmers’ markets, wine tastings, award-winning livestock (actually tho), carnival rides, a monster truck show, deep-fried confections galore, and of course, hot air balloons!!! Sure, we have San Gennaro in Little Italy but that fair leaves much to be desired and honestly gets more unbearable by the year.
I also had a chance to bring out my 85mm lens to play with so, naturally, we had to indulge in shooting a few portraits. Take in all that sweet sweet bokeh.
Around 7pm, everyone gathered by the hot air balloon area as it was almost time to lift off. At a whopping $295 per rider, you too can sail way way way up (Drizzy voice) on a hot air balloon. We opted to stay with our feet firmly planted on the earth, thank you very much.
